September: Lorraine Larson-Beardsworth paintings
Lorraine Larson-Beardsworth writes freelance and poetry and does documentary photography. Her explorations of visual art began through photography. While living in La Ronge and working at Roadside Gallery, she took her first painting class to obtain a better understanding of colour for her photos. Instead she found a passion to express herself with acrylic paints and began explorations of other visual media as well. She has recently returned to Prince Albert, where she works as a full time artist and writer. She is grateful to Prince Albert's artists for their encouragement and generosity, especially her instructors, George Glenn and Myles MacDonald, and thanks her family, Reg, Jeremy and Cheryl, for their constant support.

Until October 8: Informed Memories - Canadian Icons in Outsider Art
Opening Reception: September 18, 8:30pm
Dmytro Stryjek, Alex Mullie, Charles Crate, Sam Spencer, and Paul Sisetski
Curated by Brenda Barry Byrne
OUTSIDER ART OR ART BRUT - (the term created by French painter Jean Dubuffet meaning Raw Art) is an art without regard to the mainstream art world's recognition - artwork created by people that are, to a great extent, socially isolated, living on the fringe of society or who have had little or no formal education. The work of the five artists included in Informed Memories, represents a kind of extreme individualism, free from all social and cultural constraints.
The celebration of pop-culture, and Canadian icons - images gathered from magazines, newspapers, comic books and catalogues, used as object or subject matter - can be seen in the work of Chuck Crate, Sam Spencer, Alex Mullie, Dmytro Stryjek, and Paul Sisetski.
