  • July 11-August 23: "Quoting Commercialism"
Group Exhibition with: Shinobu Akimoto, Greg Hill, Mitch Robertson and Jan Wade
    Curated by Chris Reid
Toured by the Art Gallery of Southwestern Manitoba
"This mixed media exhibition is designed to offer a cross cultural perspective of artists who use some aspect of marketing for the basis of their work. The four artists acknowledge that media and commercialization: - attempt to mold priorities, perceptions and attitudes - are influential in the way we see ourselves in relation to culture and the way others see us - limit and control. As well the show offers a window into how and to what extent four artists of different racial heritages construct their individual personas and exert their cultural identities within a society promoting multiculturalism." (Chris Reid, curator). Each of the artists Mitch Robertson, Shinobu Akimoto, Greg Hill, Jan Wade, is very active and increasingly influential in larger urban centers as they produce innovative contemporary works.
