  • Rotary Museum of Police and Corrections (3700-2nd Avenue West- across from the Tourist Information Centre) will be open for viewing from mid May to Labour Day. Interesting displays on corporal punishment, weapons, daring escape attempts. Hours 10:00am to 8:00pm daily.

  • Evolution of Education Museum (3700-2nd Avenue West) will be open for viewing from mid May to Labour Day. The Claytonville School house was moved to this site and displays a one-room school house of the early 1900s. Hours 10:00am to 8:00pm daily.

Noon Hour Basketball, Mon to Fri 11:30 am-1:00pm. Drop In Volleyball, Mon 8:00-9:00pm. Co-Ed Volleyball League runs from May to August. 12 Team limit, Registration Required.   • Frank Dunn Pool - Registrations are now open for Children's Summer Swimming Lesson Program scheduled for 29 June to 22 August. After May 30, register directly at pool. Public swimming every night of the week 7:30-9:00pm. Wednesday Adult and family night. Saturday and Sunday Public Swim 1:00-3:00pm and 6:30-8:30, Adult and Family Swim from 3:00-5:00pm. Adult Lane Swims Sunday from 12:00-1:00pm. Tuesday and Sunday is "toonie night" - two children or two students for $2. Diving Club Saturdays and Sundays from 5:00-6:30pm.   • Marion Aquatic Summer Program begins July 6: Public Swimming: 7:30-9:00pm Monday to Thursday. Swimming lessons available for children, three sets per day. For more information about programs or to register, drop in on Monday and Tuesday evenings or call the office 764-2556.

  • July to August: Start Planning your trip to Candle Lake now. The United Church Camp Capawingo will be celebrating its 50th Anniversary with a Campers Reunion weekend scheduled for August 1 and 2 at Candle Lake. All past and present Camp Capawingo enthusiasts are invited to attend to relive their Capawingo days. Activities include swimming, singing, eating, campfire gatherings and church.   • July to August: Now Open New Skateboard Park located in the South Stewart Arena Parking Lot at PAEX Grounds. Ramps, fun boxes, half-pipe ramp, and more for skateboarders all ages. Some supervision provided, bring your own skateboard and safety equipment. Waivers will have to be signed and returned to use facilities. Runs until the end of August.   • July-August: Mid-Pro Rock and Gem Society would like to invite anyone interested, rockhounds or not, to attend the provincial Gemboree which will be held at Manitou Beach September 18-20.   • July to August: YWCA is now accepting registration for its annual Taste of Saskatchewan Homemade Wine Tasting Competition to be held September 25 at the Marlboro Inn.   • July to September: United Church Women invitation to Women for participation in proposed Wellness Workshop tentatively planned for October 3, sponsored by the Women of Calvary United Church for Women. Wellness: Body, Mind and Soul is the title of the workshop, leadership will be provided by Rev. Dawn Roke (Regina) - massage therapist, Winona Sennar - therapist, and Rev. Sandy Scott. Depending on response, other issues of interest or concern to women may also be explored in future workshops.

  • July 1: Royal Canadian Legion Canada Day Celebrations at Kinsmen Park. Fun for the whole family. Celebrations start with Veterans Parade at noon, followed by ball tournaments, children's games, free balloons and flags, penny carnival and other events until 5:30pm.   • July 1, 4, 8, 11, 15, 18, 22, 25: Farmers Market open from 7:00am to noon (every Wednesday and Saturday until October), fresh produce, baking and crafts.   • July 1, 8, 15, 22, 29: Prince Albert Road Runners fun runs all summer until October, every Wednesday. Everyone welcome, runs paced to the slowest or newest runner to help encourage new members.   • July 6: The Prince Albert Wood Turner's Guild was formed to help promote and advance the art of wood turning. The Guild meets the first Monday of each month at 7:00pm at SIAST Woodland Campus, Carpentry Shop. Anyone interested can join or come and find out about the Guild.   • July 20: Annual Heart Beat 30 person bicycle tour fund raiser for the Heart and Stroke Foundation.   • July 24-26: P.A. Wood Turner's Guild Wood Turning Symposium at SIAST Carpentry Shop. Times: Friday from 6p-10, Saturday 8am-6pm, Sunday 8-4pm. Special guests are International Turners Melvin Firmanger from England, Betty Scarpino from USA, Ernie Newman from Australia, Jean-Francois Escoulen from France.   • July 25-26 YWCA Annual Garden Tour from 1:00-5:00pm. Self-guided tour or local gardens. Tickets and maps available from the YWCA on the day of the event.   • August 11-12: 68th Annual Horticultural Show at the Exhibition Centre. Show times: Tuesday 7:00-10:00pm, Wednesday 2:00-8:30pm with awards presentation and auction to follow. Garden Competition entries must be phoned in and will be judged before the show. For more information contact Louise Lenz. The Athlone Chapter of the IODE will again be presenting the Gertrude Cote award to seniors over 60 who enter this year's competition to beautify their condo , apartments and care homes with a container or hanging basket.
