  • AFS Saskatoon is a division of AFS Interculture Canada, a non-profit charitable organization (registered) which organizes student exchanges to Canada (from over 50 countries) and for Canadian students going abroad. The Saskatoon Chapter wishes to extend its boundaries to offer contacts and information to the people of Prince Albert as there isn't currently a chapter set up there. We are all volunteers here in Saskatoon, but we are serviced by the National Office in Montreal.   • Margo Fournier Centre Fitness Programs: Morning Step Tues & Thurs 9:30-10:30am; Noon Hour Step, Mon, Wed, Thurs - 12:15-12:45pm. Evening Aerobic/Step Mon,Wed, Thurs 6:00-7:00pm. Easy Adult Fitness Program Mon, Wed, 10:00-11:00am. Noon Hour Basketball, Mon to Fri 12:00-1:00pm. Drop In Volleyball, Mon 8:00-9:00pm. Family Gym Night, Sat 4:00-6:00pm. Morning Step begins September. Check out new Youth Activities Centre (8-20 years) open Thursday and Friday 3:30-9:00pm, Saturday and Sunday from 1:00-5:00pm. Pool table, concession, computers, TV, VCR and Movies, always with adult supervision. Hours may be subject to change. For Children's programs more information call Bev 922-2294 or the Centre. If you are interested in Weight Training Sessions, Country Dancing or other activities, or for more information about any of the programs, please call the Margo Fournier Centre 953-4816. Gym time available for groups (10 or More) please call for rates and times. Winter Hours of Operation: Monday to Friday 8:00am-10:00pm, Saturday 10:00am-9:00pm, Sunday 2:00-9:00pm, Stat Holidays 1:00pm to 5:00pm.

  • Seniors Activities at the Kinsmen Heritage Centre (115-12th Street West). Monday to Saturday from 1:00-5:00pm. Daily activities: Monday, Wednesday and Friday - carpet bowling, shuffleboard, billiards, and lunch. Tuesday - whist and bridge; Thursday kaiser and bridge; Saturday - cribbage. Special Events: Every second Friday - Dancing from 8:00pm to midnight. Last Tuesday of month: Senior Songsters from 10:30-11:30am. Every 4th Thursday: Potluck Suppers from 5:30-8:30pm. Every 1st Wednesday - Birthday Party and Dance 2:00pm. Every 2nd Wednesday - monthly S.S.A.I. Meeting at 2:00pm. For more information call 953-4826.

  • Frank Dunn Pool - Registrations are now open for Fall and Winter Swimming Lesson Registrations scheduled for September 14 to June 5 1999. Please complete registration forms and enclose cheque. Classes include Aqua Tot, AquaQuest 1-12, Lifesaving I-III, Advanced Classes. Saturday and Sunday Public Swim 1:00-3:00pm and 6:30-8:30, Adult and Family Swim from 3:00-5:00pm. Adult Lane Swims Sunday from 12:00-1:00pm. Tuesday and Sunday is "toonie night" - two children or two students for $2. Diving Club Saturdays and Sundays from 5:00-6:30pm.   • Marion Aquatics Fall Program resumes September 8: Public Swimming: 7:30-9:00pm Monday to Thursday. Childrens Swimming lessons available September 9-18 from 4:00-5:30pm, September 8 to 17 from 5:30 to 7:00pm, repeated every 2 weeks. Advanced Classes from February 9 to July 2,99. Aquacize 4:00-5:00pm Tuesday and Thursday, 5:30 to 6:30pm Monday and Wednesday. Therapeutic Aquacize Monday and Wednesday from 10:30 to 11:30. Adult Lessons Monday evenings 7:30to 9:00pm.   • October 1: Prince Albert Chapter Canadian Cancer Society Luncheon with speaker Ann Lee Prince Albert Golf and Curling Club. Tickets 764-4808.

  • October 1-29: Northern Knights Fencing Club meets every Tuesday and Thursday at Berezowski School, 7:00pm in the gym. Anyone interested in fencing can come and watch or obtain information. Prospective members must be 10 years of age to join. Club has enough equipment to provide everything needed to new members and learners. For more information call Bert Gaudet 764-0113.

  • October 3: Annual Victoria Hospital Foundation Art Auction and banquet at the Marlboro Inn. New Orleans theme - proceeds to buy hospital equipment. For tickets/information call Hospital Foundation Office at 953-0523.

  • October 4-25: New Prince Albert Chess Club formed and meets in the Arts Centre every Sunday from 1:30 to 4:30pm. Everyone welcome. Free lessons, everything provided. Open to all ages and anyone can play or watch. For more information, come to meeting or call Marion 763-5556 or Dave 764-0417.

  • October 4-7: The city's Roman Catholic churches retreat called Mission 2000 continues at St. Michael Parish (1505-13th Street West). Retreat begins each evening at 7:30 p.m. Everyone welcome!

  • October 5: The Prince Albert Wood Turner's Guild was formed to help promote and advance the art of wood turning. The Guild meets the first Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. at SIAST Woodland Campus, Carpentry Shop. Anyone interested can join or come and find out about the Guild. Guests and members provide programs. The Guild also hosts special events, shows and educational sessions throughout the year. For more information contact Doug Corrigal 763-2135.

  • October 5: The Prince Albert Shooting Stars square dancing lessons every Monday at St Anne School 22455th Ave. West starting at 8:30pm. Information call764-5903.

  • October 6: Prince Albert Scandinavian Club meeting at the Multicultural Centre (19-11th Street West) at 7:30. Anyone interested is welcome to attend. Please use back door entrance. This will be a normal meeting. For more information call Carl 763-5351 or Lin 764-4913.

  • October 6: Prince Albert Chapter of Aglow of Canada, non denominational Christian Womens Group meets first Tuesday of every month at Prince Albert Golf and Curling Club in Banquet Room.   • October 7-28: Prince Albert Road Runners fun runs all summer until October, weather permitting every Wednesday. Everyone welcome, runs paced to the slowest or newest runner to help encourage new members. Meet at Cosmo Lodge, Little Red River Park at 6:00, run starts around 6:15.     October 15-16: Odyssey Productions presents "This Ain't Dinner Theatre" at the Library. Tickets are $5.00 at the door. The show is a collage of shows: scenes from "The Importance of Being Ernest", by Oscar Wilde, "Ah, Wilderness", by Eugene O'Neill and a one-act play, "Canadian Gothic" by Joanna M. Glass. The performances will be interspersed with performances by the Odyssey Productions Improv Team, "Laugh?! I Thought I'd Die!!". Refreshments and Tim Horton's goodies at intermission.
