Former Herald employee
succumbs to cancer

   Cora Serenelli, a former Herald advertising representative, passed away Saturday after a courageous fight with cancer.
   Mrs. Serenelli who worked at the herald from June 1, 1992 to Feb. 6, 1993, was remembered at the Herald as a strong and life-loving woman.

   "She was quite the unique person" said Mary Cusitar.
   "She was a strong believer in life and was a great worker. She knew every detail of her job and her knowledge of computers was above everything else."
   Mrs. Serenelli was renowed for her bicycles, computer work and cats. She met her husband Stephen in Italy during her travels and brought back to Canada a love of cycling and her husband.
   Cusitar remembers seeing Serenelli riding to work during -40C weather.
   "She was the type of person who would say you were doing a good job."
   After leaving the herald Mrs. Serenelli worked at the Zatlyn Holash Law Firm and then for the provincial government, along with work in desktop publishing.
   In the past 15 months, she had battled through three bouts of cancer.

   Mrs. Serenelli died at home in the company of her husband on Saturday.

   Stephen Serenelli recalled the impact she made in his life.
   "I never met a person that was so simple, optimistic and full of life as Cora, able to love without reservation," said Serenelli.
   "Cora has not left us. Like me, she believes in immortality. The immortality made of the things we did in life and the lives we touched."

   Mrs Serenelli is remembered by her husband Stephen; her parents Hazen and Margaret Pond; her sistr Carol (Ron) Beck, children Dan and Adam, grandchildren Adam, Jordan, Jessica, Alexandra, Kaitlin Beck; sister Peggy (Wayne) McConechy, children David (Connie) and Suzanne (Kevin) Greenshield, grandchildren Megan and Lucas McConechy; her brother John Pond (Linda), children Rhonda, Kris, Christopher and Heather.

   Mrs. Serenelli requested there be no funeral service. Friends are invited to visit with family on Wednesday from 3-5 pm at 4B - 516 River St. E.
